    3. Chemistry Mark / 4
    Example :
    Maths = 181 ,Physics = 189 , Chemistry = 193
    Maths =181/2 = 90.5 Physics = 189/4 = 47.25 Chemistry = 193/4 = 48.25
    Engineering Cut off = Maths+ Physics+ Chemistry = 90.5+47.25+48.25 = 186

    Academic Freedom: The Autonomous Status accords an institution with the freedom to frame the syllabus and customize it as per the needs of the Industry. Students are taught the latest and relevant technologies to make them competent in the market.

    Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS): VCET follows the ‘Choice Based Credit System’. CBCS has numerous advantages over the conventional system. Rather than evaluating student-performance using marks and percentages, which many a time can be very inconsistent and unfair, CBCS uses Grades and Grade Point Averages(GPA) to evaluate student-performance. Using Grades and GPAs instead of marks and percentages provides a more holistic metric to measure student-performance.

    Better Subject Choice and Electives: The earmarking feature of CBCS is that students in addition to studying the core subjects from their branch can also choose from a wide range of elective subjects from other branches as well. i.e students from non circuit branches (Mechanical and Civil) can opt for electives offered by the circuit branches (Computer Science, Information Technology , Electronics & Communication and Electrical & Electronics) and vice versa. This way the CBCS seamlessly incorporates and encourages an interdisciplinary approach towards higher education which is adopted by top Universities across the world.

    Employability Becomes Easier: In today’s competitive marketplace, there is a huge demand for proficient technical and management professionals. Practical training and a curriculum meticulously framed to meet the requirements of the job market are imparted to the students to make them readily employable.

    Internships: Students are provided with multiple opportunities to intern at various Industries and MNC R&D Laboratories, during their vacation time to groom them for the Industry. Degree: Students graduating from VCET (Autonomous) are awarded ‘degree’ from Anna University, Chennai.

    Usually, VCET holds the bridge course in the first 15 days of the first semester to brush through the basics of maths, physics and chemistry that the students learnt in Plus One and Plus Two.

    We teach students the basics of higher secondary mathematics, concentrating on differentiation and integration, which are a part of the foundation for engineering.

    In teaching physics and chemistry the faculty tells the students that they better give up the learning-by-rote for that will be impossible in engineering.

    The bridge course is also necessary to help students realise that engineering is all about application and therefore rote learning does not help course. We also help students who have had their Plus Two in Tamil move over to English medium of instruction setup and communicate better in the language.
