Computer Center
VCET has a well-equipped centralized computer centre to cater to the needs of high profile students and faculty in the college. It is housed in a magnificent building having specialized laboratories that provides variety of platforms and computing environment for all the students. The computer centre at a cost of Rs. 2.5 crores includes more than 1000 terminals with 12 servers and high speed broadband (100 Mbps) internet access facilities.
Communication Laboratory
Communication laboratory has been constructed to enable the students to improve their
language and career scopes. This lab contains 70 computer systems with head phones and Globarena
software is installed in all the machines. The students can develop their communication skills through
comprehensive language exercises provided with the software. The spoken tutorial workshops and
online open source software sponsored by IIT, Mumbai are being organised.
Internet & Intranet Facilities
Our college has a dedicated Internet Leased line of 100 Mbps, connected throughout the Campus. Students and faculties are free to access internet after the regular working hours. This helps the students to prepare papers on the latest technologies to be presented in various symposiums and seminars. (24 hours Internet facility is provided) The Intranet allows faculty to post lectures, notes and presentation documents on the college e-portal.
Wi-Fi Campus
Velalar College of Engineering and Technology entered the era of E-revolution by making the entire campus Wi-Fi enabled. The Internet connection is distributed across the college through Wi-Fi networks. The coverage of Wi-Fi is not restricted to class rooms and it extends to all areas including library, conference halls, cafeteria and hostels. Eventually, it enables VCET to switch over to innovative and modern teaching and learning methodologies. The Wi-Fi system has been functioning with 100 Mbps (1:1) leased line connectivity provided by BSNL. As Wi-Fi security being an area of concern, the internet is secured with the firewall and web access is monitored by the Squid Server.
Conference Halls and Auditorium
There are five conference halls/auditoriums with ample seating capacity to conduct seminars, symposiums, conferences, meetings, etc. There is a 1500 seater auditorium with the state - of - the art facilities for the conduct of all cultural festivals and college functions.
Healthcare Services
Medical health care is provided on campus to all staff and students. A dispensary with bed facility is available. Dr.P.T.Rani, MBBS. and a staff nurse is available to provide medical attention to everyone in the campus. An ambulance is readily available round the clock on the campus to meet any medical emergency.
Bank with ATM facility
Bank of Baroda functions in the campus with fully computerized facilities. The 24 hour ATM facility in the bank serves students, faculty, staff and the administrative office besides serving the public.
Amenities Centre
The students can avail facilities such as photo copiers, scanning machines through the amenity centre at a low cost.
Cafeteria
Our college has a spacious and clean canteen with a seating capacity of 100 members at a time. It functions from 7.30 am to 7.00 pm. Stationeries, refreshments and gift items are also available.
Reverse Osmosis plant
Reverse Osmosis plants were established during the inception of the buildings. There are 4 RO systems in the campus. The capacity of the plants in L-block & Gents hostel is 100 L / hr and in Main building & Ladies hostel, the capacity is 750 L / hr & 250 L / hr respectively. Purified water is supplied round the clock.
Solar Panel & Lights
Four solar water heaters each with a 500 L capacity is installed in ladies hostel. Five Solar lights are installed at different places in the campus.
Bio-Gas
A Bio-gas plant of 30 cubic meters tank capacity is established and is producing biogas of about one cylinder daily from food and bio wastes.
Solid Waste Management
An incinerator is run to ensure that the solid and biological waste gets disposed without any threat to the environment.
Safety Measures
In every wing of the building, fire extinguishers with run out hose and buckets are available to handle hazardous situations. Any untoward event could be monitored with CCTV surveillance system which is installed on every floor, canteen, entrance, hostels and other common gathering places.
Lift & Ramp
Lift and Ramp facility are available in the main building for differently abled students.
Generators
Two generators are available with a capacity of 250 kVA and 82.5 kVA.
