MESSAGE FROM HoD
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established in 2001, offering B.E. - ECE program with an intake of 60 students. The intake was increased to 90 students from 2006 to 120 in 2008 and to 180 in 2016. The Programme has been accredited by NBA, New Delhi. The department has also been recognised as a research centre for carrying out Ph.D./M.S. (By Research) Programme under Anna University. The department also offers one P.G. Programme, namely M.E (Applied Electronics) from the year 2011-12 onwards with an intake of 18 students.

The department has good infrastructure and is equipped with full-fledged laboratories such as Integrated Circuits & Communication Engineering Lab, Microprocessor & Microcontroller Lab, Devices & Electronics Lab, Optical Communication & Microwave Engineering Lab, Electronic Design Automation Lab, Networks & Simulation Lab, Signal Processing & VLSI Design Lab and Embedded System Design Lab. The department has faculty members having vast experience in their field. The faculty has succeeded in keeping a lively atmosphere among the students with timely upgradations in the curriculum and innovative teaching techniques. The department has filed 7 patents and 9 copyrights in which 2 patents and 7 copyrights have been granted. Faculty and students of the department obtained funding for doing research, conducting seminars and STTPs from several funding agencies like AICTE, ICMR, CSIR and TNSCST. Membership activities in professional bodies like IETE motivate students to participate in various technical events at the state and national levels. The department has consistently produced University ranks. Many of the Alumni are well-placed in reputed organizations like INFOSYS, G.E., Tech Mahindra, WIPRO, CTS, L&T Infotech, Accenture, Suresoft Systems, Capgemini, IVTL, VI Microsystem, Hexaware technologies, ADP-Wilco & Polaris, etc. Others are pursuing M.Tech., MBA and M.S. courses in India & abroad.

Since the invention of transistor at Bell Laboratories in 1947, the field of electronics has grown exponentially and it continues to grow. From a simple 1-transistor IC, now the field is witnessing million transistor ICs. Similarly, the communication engineering has progressed tremendously from the days of Alexander Graham Bell. Together these two areas touch upon every phase of human life. The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has been consistently working towards the goal to produce highly skilled and scientifically oriented manpower through flexible, adaptive and progressive training programs and a cohesive interaction among the research organizations, academicians and industries.
